CPA Exam

I will be taking 1 part of the CPA exam on July 10th. This part will be the Financial Accounting and Reporting section.

After I find out the results from the exam I will then be able to determine when I will take the remaining 3 parts or retake the exam.

I've taken the CPA exam before, but that was when you had to take all four parts at once. This is my first time being able to choose when and how many sections I want to take; I like this format alot better!

Wish me luck!

Lincoln Park Zoo apes get to take revenge

By LISA SCHENCKER
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

CHICAGO -- The apes at Lincoln Park Zoo are finally getting a chance to take their revenge on people who for years have been pounding their palms against the glass walls of the primates' old home.

At the zoo's new Regenstein Center for African Apes, chimpanzees can touch a panel hidden from public view that will shoot harmless bursts of air at unsuspecting visitors.

My dad got me into collecting the Washington Quarters - State Collection. At first I admit that I really wasn't too interested in it. However I have become interested in seeing if the quarters I get will fit in my collection. As you can see in the picture I'm only missing a few of them that have come out. The ones that I am missing are all from the Philadelphia mint:Ohio, Illinois, Alabama, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas, and Florida. I noticed that there are two extra columns....maybe I'll fill those in with quarters with years that are significant to me :)

I went to Greenlake today. It's been so nice out that it's hard to stay inside and study.

I miss my car :(

I really liked the color of this car.

Summertime.....and the livings easy

Sunny Days

Wow, what a great Sunny day today turned out to be! Yesterday ended up being a sunny day too. What is up with the weather predictions? It hasn't been cloudy like was forecasted but sunny and very warm.

In any case it is nice to have sun to make you wake up and get up and out to do something. So after making one of my favorite night-after-drinks potato hash browns and spicy cheese breakfast I decided to go check out the University Farmer's Market (http://www.seattlefarmersmarkets.org/markets/udistrict/). This was the first time that I've ever been to this market...which is kind of sad because it's only about 3 blocks away. I was really impressed with all of the vendors and the variety of foods. There were alot of organic foods, which if you know me is something I really like, and oddly even a vendor that had some pastries from Prague. If you're interesting in fresh awesome food check out the market, plus check out this pdf - http://www.seattlefarmersmarkets.org/fresh/current_fresh.pdf

I decided not to spend very much money due to the pending auto-repair bill, which I still don't know what the total is going to be but I'm sure I will be a very poor man :( However, I did end up buying some organic tomatos. I can't remember tomatos smelling so good, certaintly not the ones that are in the stores. But the tomatos that I bought smelled soooo good I can't wait to eat them in a salad and to top off the salmon burgers I bought at Trader Joe's yesterday.

Well...on thoughts of sweet smelling tomatos I think I'll take a nap :)

Pool night and Zig Zag

Well last night after posting my blog I decided to go out down town to the Pike Pub & Brewery (http://www.merchantduvin.com/pages/3_pike_brewing/) and shoot some pool with some friends. I got to the pub a little late ~ 9:30 and the pub closes early at 11:30, so I only got to play 4 games of pool. It's been about a month since the last time I've played, and I've got to say that I did pretty well without having too much time to warm up. I won two games and was satisfied with that.

After pool we decided to end the night at Zig Zag Cafe (http://www.zigzagcafe.net/). Zig Zag Cafe has a great bunch of bartenders; Murray, one of the highest regarded bartender in Seattle; Ben and Kacy, co-owners; and Damon, which I haven't really talked to. The waitresses there a very attractive as well. It was a crowded night and full of positive attitude all around, so it was fun. Look forward to next time!

100 Miles!

The work week is over! I've rode my bike to and from work each day this week, totaling 100 miles and 7.5 hours.

My car is still at the mechanic's shop and should be done next Tuesday. This will be 2 weeks without having my car. Not having my car isn't too bad. Although, it's kind of hard not being able to go where I want when I want. I also haven't been able to go out mountain biking, which hasn't been too bad since I'm riding 20 miles/day to and from work.

I think the easy thing to do would be to make a friend that mountain bike's and has a car. The issue that I have is that I hate asking people for favours or having to depend on others. I know....I'll find an awesome, smart, hot girlfriend, with reliable car/truck that will take me mountain biking.

My search starts now!!!

Phlegm

I've had this sinus cold/issue for the last week. Since I've been riding my bike to work the last three days, I've noticed alot more movement of phlegm.

I know that I have some sinus issues related with allergies. The issue is that sometimes the mucus (sp?) doesn't drain correctly and my sinus gets stuffed.

Like I was saying about riding my bike to work and noticing more drainage of my phlegm; I've also noticed that once I blow my nose and get rid of all my phlegm that I feel alot better....not only physically but emotionally. I think that the phlegm has some bad chemicals in it that reacts negatively with my body...making me both physically and emotionally sick.

If anyone else has noticed the same thing I would be interested to hear.

Bike Commute

I've been riding my bike into work the last two days (my car is in the shop until Thursday). I've got to say that it hasn't been to bad. It only takes me about 35 minutes to ride in and about 50 minutes to ride home.

The ride in is pretty nice. There isn't very much traffic to contend with, which is kinda surprising since part of my commute intersects downtown. Also there are other bike commuters too that I get to compete with, not officially but I like to pretend because I kick alot of ass...hehe.

The ride home isn't so bad either. The route that I take home is different from the one I take into work. The route home takes me along side the Downtown waterfront...which is pretty cool because I can see what's going on at the pier and along the park. The only downside is part of the route is on the road...meaning I have to contend with cars.

All in all commuting with my bike is pretty good....however I look forward to getting my car back.

I Once Flirted

with the idea of selling my car. I would use the public transit system to get from A to B.

However, being without my car for 5 days now my lunacy has been slapped out of my head.

1.) I would not have a way to get out anywhere to enjoy mountain biking....thus leading to a certain morbid depression.
2.) I would not have a way to get out anywhere to go hiking and camping. This would be a waste of my dreams of adventure, not to mention wasting a grand that I spent of camping gear...thus leading into a vortex of stupidity.
3.) I would have to share a ride with smelly stupid people - EVERY DAY...thus this proves my point.

Obviously I'm over reacting here but I really do miss having my car. It would be difficult to adjust not having a car. However, I think like everything else in life where adjustments are required difficulties are one part of the process. I must be able to keep an open mind to broaden my perspective.

Swiss Cheese For Dinner

…what’s for lunch
Fog spread normality sandwich
Will you like my Swiss cheese?
Moldy plaque hippo-sesos
Tastes like shit…

Take me home…
…where are we going?
not there again…
…the specter is ominous

Made a left turn on Consciousness Lane
Or was it a right?
Your rights are wrongs
I play in three dimensions?
Well…no, I don’t think so

I can find my files to show you…
…lost my storage key
Only nothing was ever stored.

I’ve lost myself
Who’s self?

Forgive me for I know not what I do.

Cars Suck

My car broke down today on my way to work, right on the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Fortunately I was able to pull over safetly and park. I then had it towed to a mechanic I've worked with in the past. Hopefully the repair wont be to pricey.

I look forward to the future when there will be hypercars available. There are supposed to be less parts. Less parts = less opportunity for break down. We'll see.

I Went to the Arboretum

I liked the trees with the tall branch canopies the best. There were also some trees - rhodendrans I think - that had some pleasant smelling blooms. When I have my own home I will definetly want a plethera of fragrant plants.

Also while I was out I thought of how awesome it would be if Cisco was able to create an arboretum of his own somewhere in the heart of downtown Seattle. I think the city of Seattle should definetly consider this idea.
