My New Mountain BIke

This may seem to be a bit bragadoscious but I bought a new bike, and am very happy and excited about it. I bought a Yeti Kokopelli (I love the name too) from REI. I couldn't pass this opportunity up because it was 25% off!

Let me count the ways I love thee:
1.)Full suspension (my first),
2.)Disc Brakes (also my first),
3.)Tubeless tires,
4.)XTR rear derailer,
5.)and it's black and beautiful.

Lunar Eclipse Pic

Check out the lunar eclipse picture I took tonight: Picture

It was a pretty interesting event. I went over to Magnuson Park to watch and take pictures of the lunar eclipse. I thought it was interesting that there were so many peaople there also. It was much more of a spectacle than I thought it would be. Although my camera wasn't able to capture the event too well, I thought it did an OK job.

This was my first viewing of a lunar eclipse. I think it was made more interesting and weird that the Boston Red Sox won the World Series tonight also!

Tiger Mountain Hike

This morning I went for a hike at Tiger Mountain. I decided to try a new trail that I haven't hiked. I forgot the name of the trail but it begins at the landing site for the paragliders and hanggliders and leads to Poo-Poo point.

The hike up to Poo-Poo Point reaches a height of only about 1650 feet but it is fairly steep with quite abit of switchbacks. It's a short hike up taking roughly 45 minutes.

Although the hike is fairly short the view is pretty sweet. It is of little wonder that this place has been picked out for the paragliders and hangliders. This place is a nice place to have lunch :)

I've posted a picture (the weird looking ground is actually astroturf that is used a runway) at my web album site:

I've also cleaned up this website so that it's easier to read. Also, I've added a link on my pictures above to my photo album website (can you tell that I'm trying to promote my photos?).

Photoblog

Photoblog? No I haven't have much luck creating a photoblog. I want to use my free comcast account and free photoblog software but have not had any success. If you have any solutions please let me know :)

In the interim I've created a photo album. Please feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. I'll be posting my pictures there, since Web Album generator is a better platform than this one for pictures (sorry blogger, I still like you).

Here's my Photo Album Link:

Kachess Ridge Ride Update

I had a great ride! The weather, scenery, and smells made it awesome. I'll definitely remember this experience for a long time :)

Crystal blue sky, no clouds, and a nice cool temperature for riding.

The fall colors, alpine lake, ridges and mountains (including Rainier) were all a sight to behold.

It was nice to be in the fresh outdoors. The dead leaves brewing in sun made the experience the best fall experience that I can remember.

I've posted some of the pictures I took on my new (still temporary for now) photoblog. I think the photos came out awesome. Please let me know what you think - here's the link: Photoblog.

Transcendent. I've been thinking about this alot lately. I think it's very interesting that I tend to place a very high value on attaining transcendents. What are some of your methods of attaining transcendets? Do you believe complete transcendents is possible?

Granite Falls

What to do? Well this morning I cancelled a mtn. bike ride due to the rain and a sinus infection that I'm getting over. So, after taking my first sip of my vanilla latte I considered what I should do today. For some reason "Go to Granite Falls" popped into my head.

Granite Falls is a place that I would go to once a year, mainly in the fall. I haven't gone in a couple of years and decided now is a good time to go.

It was a little rainy and wet but the color of the leaves and being near the falls is awesome. If you get a chance to go in the next couple of days it's a nice trip to take.

Here are some of my pictures:

Lessons In Illumination

I decided to start out with this picture I took of a lamp post surrounded by fog:

And transformed it into this:

This spider has a web near the entrance to my workplace. I've notice that's it grown since the last time I saw it. I like the white cross it has on it's belly. Notice what it had for lunch (I think it was a small bird):

Yesterday I found out that I did not pass the Financial Accounting and Reporting section of the CPA exam that I took on July 10th. Not only did I not pass, I didn't even come close. This really kills any desire I've had for continuing to try to pass the CPA exam. After over 5 years of after-college studying for the CPA exam, and way too much money spent on review material and exam fees, I think that I'm ready to let the "sunset" on this chapter of my life and focus my energy on something else.

1st day of my new year. Growing up in Alaska, some years the first snow of the season was on my birthday or the day after. I always thought that having the first snow of the season on my birthday was a good sign. Ah, can't wait to go snowboarding this season especially now that I have a car that can handle driving in the snow!

Railroad Bridge - Transitions I & II

Railroad Bridge - A Transition

I took these two pictures today. It was a very foggy cool morning - nice and interesting for my birthday. I just made these two pieces of art afterwork at my usual coffee hangout. Now it's time for my birthday dinner :)

Peace - Have Faith That You Will Know It.

Here's a picture of a flower I took at Magnuson Park today for you :)

Catharsis

After 15 hours of deliberation a young woman's Rolex struck midnight, the City Council once again failed to organize a plan to clean up Downtown. At that same moment, a heavy downpour of rain ensued outside of a popular weekend club called "Achilles" and a now much too drunk partier's oversensitive car alarm cycled through it's annoying alarms. Unusually, the car alarm was not ignored. As soon as the alarm went off it startled an elderly cat that ran blindly around a corner, causing another much too drunk partier to laugh so hard she vomited onto the street. The vomit was quickly washed down through the gutter. City Council members agreed to meet again at 8 a.m. sharp and adjourned their meeting.

I made this picture from my previous post of a what I call "star flower". Hope that you like it!

I hope that you had a wonderful day! Thanks.

I find it very interesting that there's always a Queen on each float. Where and why did this start?

This morning I decided to skip my mountain bike ride (due to some sort of head cold I've been plagued with) and mosey on over to Issaquah and check out the Salmon Days Festival. I made it there just in time for the float parade (yawn). I did notice a disportionate amount of old people and teenagers (in population and size). Maybe it was my cold or maybe it was my observations but I just couldn't work up an appetite to try any of the food or the salmon bbq. Oh well, there's always next year, that is unless St. Helens blows us all to smithereens.
